Healing Through Remembering’s second discussion seminar in the series on Commemoration took place on Friday, June 24. The seminar was entitled ‘How Have We Remembered? Preparing for a decade of commemorations; an opportunity for discussion’.

21 June 2011 was the fifth year for the annual Day of Reflection organised by HTR, the cross-community organisation that focuses on ways of dealing with the past relating to the conflict in and about Northern Ireland, with the aim of ensuring a peaceful future for all.

Chief Constable Matt Baggott, Mitchell McLaughlin MLA, Sir Hugh Orde, Jackie McDonald and Kate Turner, Director of Healing Through Remembering were the panel at a meeting of a range of significant individuals discussing the issues of truth recovery was held last night. The event was chaired by Brian Rowan.

From 8-10 May 2011 Kate Turner, Director of Healing Through Remembering, joined four Sites of Conscience leaders and over 100 victims group representatives for the International Commission on Missing Persons’ (ICMP) “The Missing, Memory and Sites of Conscience” conference in Sarajevo.

A discussion panel was held following the screening of ‘We Are Not Afraid’ - a documentary journey in response to the Belfast Sarajevo Project - by Declan Keeney, as part of the Belfast Film Festival (at Queens Film Theatre) on Thursday, 7 April 2011.
